Just a nice pic of the orientals being mellow, which they hardly ever are.

My kid just asked me if I would rather drink pee or eat poo. Guess what I chose? And why is a 12 year old asking these questions? He is regressing. But it's better than when he had a girlfriend and texted her 24-7. I guess I'll take it.

First is Jeff Tweedy, lead singer for Wilco. Isn't he so cute? He looks kind of washed out here, but he's a mover and a shaker, always up and trying to cruise around.

That's Nels, lead guitarist extraodinare. That boy is my kid's favorite, I think because he looks like an alien. Just to let you know, my kid is downstairs and taunting Mark while they play some new Xbox game and Aidan is singing "Ain't no Holocaust girl." We set him straight though about the Holocaust. He thought it was the Holloback song by Gwen Stefani. Oops.

These two girls are Wilco and Feist. Kind of lame to name the kitten Wilco, but there you have it. That pic is for Amaya to see Wilco's eyes. Are those red like a mink? Hmm.

New Clan of Fresh Rexes

Born on December 16 in the wee hours of the morning, midwifed by the MAN Mark Janes, husband and reluctant cat helper. Thank goodness Teeny loves Mark! She didn't need much help though. She did this all on her own, well, with a little help from Koro's Igor of Catosaurusrex in Oregon. Thanks again Amaya and Robyn for the loan of your awesome sweet stud.

In this litter we have 2 black and white boys (although at this moment one of them is needing supplemental food--he's not doing so hot), one black and white girl (who is at the front of the pile here), one red and white boy, and 2 lavendar and white girls. Mark has named them strange names, but we'll have to see how they turn out. More pics later when I can.

Please remember that in a breeding program, breeders keep back the best type kittens for future breeding. Just a caution for those people who are wanting a devon baby. At this point, there's no telling who is the best type, so we must all be patient. Do I sound like a grade school teacher? Sorry.

Devon Buddies Wish for a Merry Christmas

This is the story of Floyd and Thorvold, two devon rex boys who are about 6 years old. They have been buddies for a long time now, and they would love to find a permanent forever home. I suppose that would be their Christmas wish, their Christmas miracle, if you will. Here is their story:

Thorvold came from a breeder in the lower 48 who is still very invested in seeing him happy, which to Thor, probably means staying with Floyd. Floyd is also from a reputable breeder in the lower 48. Both boys could be flown back to their breeders, as this is the standard rule for any kitten who comes from a cattery: they are loved and always welcomed back home. But, think of the time of year: it's winter in Alaska. Where I am right now, in Bethel, it's supposed to get down to -40 tonight. Well luckily the boys are with a friend in Anchorage, but they are just there temporarily, until they find their forever home.

Here's the sweet part:: Floyd is a chubby white devon rex who is deaf. He relies on his buddy Thor to orient him to his surroundings and the world. Everyone involved with these boys wants to see them stay together. Their original owner has fallen on a series of bad times. We all know how that goes: it doesn't rain, it pours. And that's how they came to be in rescue.

I am away from my home computer, which I apprecite now more than ever, and this computer won't let me download the other pictures. I have asked the foster mom to send more pics of the boys so I can put them up here. Until then, rack your brain people and see if you can't come up with a place for these boys to thrive.

And here is my hero, Diane McEachern, who got Social Worker of the Year!!!!!! in Alaska. I didn't even know until today. If it were me, I would have posted my accolades right here, or at least called someone. Not her. She probably forgot all about it. She was picking us up tonight for dinner. That's why she's the award winner!

Here Aidan not only seems to be running, but in the wrong direction. I'm sure it's some plot to get the ball, or something. I'm still learning the game. He was so mad at me one day when I congratulated him for making a goal. WHATEVER! Here's how I plan to get back at him for his pre-teenaged eye-rolling: This is him and Gavin at the games in Nikolevesk.

Can you believe he has a girlfriend? This is what it's like to have a girlfriend in 6th grade: you text 24-7 but don't actually speak on the phone. And then when you are with said girlfriend, you sit together but don't talk. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they texted while sitting next to each other. I plan to use this as blackmail later in his teenage years.

Here she's showing off her children as they cook away in her big belly. I can feel them poking me when they're swimming around in there. She's quite proud of them and protective--growling whenever that unpredicatable Pop Pop even looks at her. She knows not to trust him.

I have been ordering Christmas presents on line this morning--very fun!
