Menses Fair
One of my/our favorite movies of all times is "Hedwig and the Angry Inch." I've named a kitten Hedwig before. It's still his name of course. And we watch the movie lots. I would love to be able to play some of the songs from that movie one day with our band, or other people not in the band (?). There's a scene in the movie where Hedwig's band is playing at the Menses Fair, a thinly veiled reference to all of the women's music concerts. That's what it felt like the other day in Seldovia in the rain. Vito and Carina who own Cowboy Bar-B-Que asked if we would play when the 100 plus tourists came from a Holland America cruise ship to town. Having been on 2 cruises myself, it cracked me up to know that Seldovia was an excursion destination from that ship. Comprised largely of Japanese tourists, our audience helped us to shed our egos, as Jen put it. We realized that we're not very important, in the scheme of things. And that allowed us to just jam in the rain for our few loyal fans: Sharone Patrone, band manager; Ruby and Curtis of the competing band; Lilly with the shaved head; and some other young boys who probably wanted to see Mark sing "Everything is Broken" in that weird voice he has.

That's Jen, aka Diva, on the keyboards; Bossy Laurel on the bass; our fearful leader Rockin' Rob Rurka; Where's Waldo Janes; and me hiding in the back on drums.
